Learn about internship and full-time opportunities at AmeriCorps/VISTA with its director, Paul Monteiro. A federal anti-poverty program launched in 1965 as the domestic counterpart to the Peace Corps, today more than 7,500 VISTAs serve at more than 4,000 sites across the country to help non-profits and public agencies build their capacity to serve our neighbors in need. Sponsored by Career Services and Woodrow Wilson School. About the speaker: Paul Monteiro is a graduate of the University of Maryland and Howard University School of Law. While in law school he served as a Marshall-Brennan fellow and taught constitutional law to middle school students from low-income backgrounds. He later accepted a position to work for Senator Barack Obama on Capitol Hill in 2006 and subsequently served as the national deputy director of religious affairs on the Obama for America campaign.
