Applications for Winter Princeternships are open!
Are you interested in observing a prospective career first-hand, meet alumni and employers all while getting an inside look at jobs and industries that interest you? Apply for a Princeternship, which provides students opportunities to explore different career fields and make professional connections by spending time with alumni and employers in their workplaces during academic breaks.
Applications are now open for the Winter Job Shadowing Princeternship sessions. The winter session can be either a one-day shadowing experience with an alum or two- to five-day shadowing with project experience. The Scholars Institute Fellows Program (SIFP) is providing financial assistance for students who qualify and apply for funding for Winter Job Shadowing Princeternships.
Held during reading period (Jan. 7-11, 2019) and intercession (Jan. 28-Feb. 1, 2019), students are paired with alumni for job shadowing and project experience over one to five days. Participants will have the opportunity to get to know the career path of their alum host, learn more about an industry and potentially get tangible project experience. Winter Princeternships span a wide range of geographical locations with flexibility for other dates in January depending on host availability.
The Scholars Institute Fellows Program (SIFP) is providing financial assistance for winter Princeternships to students who qualify and apply for funding. To be eligible, students must qualify for Princeton University’s financial aid program and be part of the SIFP program.
If you are eligible for financial aid but not currently part of SIFP, you can still apply for Princeternship funding as long as you sign up to participate in SIFP prior to completing your SAFE application and participate in SIFP as a member in good standing for the 2018-19 academic year. To apply, search for INTERNSHIP funding, select the SIFP opportunity in SAFE, and submit an application. The SIFP SAFE opportunity opens on Sept. 21. If you are applying for financial assistance, your SAFE application, SIFP application (if you are not already a member) and Princeternship application are all due Nov. 5.
When submitting the SAFE application, include a budget and possible dates based on your first choice winter Princeternship opportunity. The formula for calculating your budget is available on the SIFP website. Please note that budgets not based on this model will not be accepted. If you are accepted for a Winter Princeternship, you will be able to upload a document with describing the specific plans for the Princeternship you’ve been awarded and an updated budget based on the funding model provided.
Visit the SIFP site for more details. If you have additional questions about funding, please email Dr. Ashlee Shaw, associate director for SIFP.
Interested in participating? Learn more and apply in Handshake by Nov. 5. Undergraduate students of all years are eligible to apply, and if selected, will receive an email with instructions to sign up for an interview slot through Handshake. If you are applying for financial assistance, your Princeternship application, SIFP application (if you are not already a member) and SAFE application are all due by Nov. 5.
There are 125 positions available with 56 different organizations during Winter Princeternship, including opportunities in healthcare, communications, nonprofit, education, tech, architecture, business and law.
