Tisha Thompson joined ESPN in January 2017 as a Washington D.C. based investigative reporter. As part of ESPN’s Enterprise unit, Thompson covers investigative stories, primarily for Outside the Lines and also contributes to breaking news stories for SportsCenter and ESPN.com.
Before joining ESPN, Thompson worked as an investigative reporter at WRC News 4 in Washington D.C. (2011-2016), where her stories led to the creation of new laws and regulations and dozens of firings and corporate changes.
Prior to joining WRC, Thompson worked as an investigative reporter for WTTG-TV in Washington D.C., and WMAR-TV in Baltimore. She also worked as a reporter and anchor at WPSD-TV in Paducah, KY, and KOMU-TV in Columbia, MO.
In addition to her 24 Emmy Awards, Thompson has won three Gracie awards, 16 Associated Press Awards and 15 Edward R. Murrow Awards. Thompson has more than 100 regional and national awards.
A fifth generation reporter, Thompson’s journalistic roots can be traced back to the 1800’s. She graduated from Princeton University and received her master’s degree from the University of Missouri Graduate School of Journalism. She currently sits on the board for the Fund for Investigative Journalism and resides in Washington D.C.
