Science Serving Society: NASA, Earth Science, and Program Management
It is not everyday that you have the chance to meet the Director of the NASA Earth Science Divisions Applied Sciences Program, or get to go to the NASA headquarters for that matter. Join us for the opportunity to meet Mr. Lawrence Friedl 88, a man who has served as a Space Shuttle Flight Controller in NASAs Mission Control Center for 15 missions, and for some of you, to indulge in your childhood dream of becoming an astronaut.
Mr. Lawrence Friedl 88 serves as the Director of the NASA Earth Science Divisions Applied Sciences Program. The Program supports efforts to discover and demonstrate innovative and practical applications of Earth science by public and private sector organizations. He has been with the NASA Applied Sciences Program since 2002 and served as a Program Manager for several applications themes. Prior to joining NASA, Lawrence worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, focusing on geospatial applications, and he served as a Space Shuttle Flight Controller in NASAs Mission Control Center for 15 missions. Lawrence received a Masters degree in Public Policy from Harvard Universitys Kennedy School of Government, and a Bachelors degree in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University.
