Reporting to executive director Pulin Sanghvi, Kubu will lead a cross-functional staff responsible for overall career center operations, public relations, employer and alumni engagement, outreach, communications, technology and finance.
“As Career Services enters a new phase of our strategic reimagining, I am delighted that our organization will be able to leverage Eva’s leadership and experience to accomplish our goals of engaging each student in the thoughtful and personalized exploration of meaningful work, and connecting them in innovative ways to our alumni base and to a diverse range of opportunities,” Sanghvi said. “She will oversee multiple strategic initiatives within the office to bring to life the office’s new mission.”
Kubu has 20 years of diversified experience in the field of higher education career services creating programs and resources to engage, educate and empower students as they discover and explore their interests, pursue opportunities, and ultimately, launch their careers.
She joined Princeton's Career Services in 2009. As associate director of communications and outreach, she oversaw the office’s strategic communications for all internal and external stakeholders—including students, employers, alumni, parents, campus partners and the media. This led to a substantial increase in visibility and many new collaborative partnerships during her five-year tenure.
Regarding her appointment as director of external relations and operations, Kubu said: “I am honored to assume a greater leadership role and help Princeton execute its vision to create a truly transformative career center experience for its students and alumni.”
Previously, she managed marketing and communications for the three regional career centers of Rutgers University and worked as a career management adviser, associate director of graduate placement and career development instructor at other institutions. She also served as managing partner in an executive coaching and career transition practice, working with professionals and organizations to achieve their leadership development goals.
Throughout her career, Kubu has earned multiple awards and national recognition within the career services field. In 2013, she received Princeton's Donald Griffin Management Award. She also earned the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ Innovation Excellence Award (2012), the Metropolitan New York Career Placement Officers’ Association (MNYCPOA) Award for Innovative Career Center Programming (2007) and the DeVry University Innovative and Creative Teaching Award (2001).
An early-adopter of social media use for career services, she has conducted three nationwide research studies on the topic (including her thesis research), presented at national and regional professional conferences and published a journal article. She also frequently lectures at other universities regarding the use of social media for personal branding. In 2011, she helped establish an annual conference in the northeast to educate fellow career services professionals about best practices in technology and social media.
Kubu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Rutgers University and a specialized MBA certification in social media marketing from the Rutgers Center for Management Development. She will earn a Master of Science in higher education administration at Drexel University in December of this year.
She is a member of several national and regional professional associations including the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers (EACE), the National Association of Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
A first-generation college graduate, she serves on the board of a Greek-American scholarship foundation and is active in several philanthropic and community organizations to support education and cultural awareness.
