Welcome to our newly designed website!
Sometimes, change is a good thing. Career Services' launched its first website way back in 1995. At that time, only users with a 'princeton.edu' host name could use the site. Since that time, the website has been revised twice — in 1998 and in 2008. To keep up with evolving technology in the field of career services as well as the needs of our students, alumni and the entire Princeton community, we have redesigned the website to reflect Web 2.0 trends.
A New Look, Enhanced Features
Our objectives for the project included developing a new site that would provide:
- Best practices in career planning and advising: To develop the content and layout, extensive research was conducted, including benchmarking with peer institutions and other nationally recognized leaders in the career services field.
- Visual enhancements: Our upgraded look and feel is intended to reflect audience preferences for clean, streamlined design and visual content as well as videos/photos featuring students, alumni and the entire Princeton community.
- Better navigation: We want it to be easy for all audiences to find what they are looking for, anywhere on the site. We have conducted extensive “click” testing with students as well as staff across campus to see whether they can quickly find and click the topics they are looking for. We have also had more than two dozen students review the site and provide feedback.
- Enhanced usability: In working with the professionals on OIT’s Web Development Services team, the entire project included careful consideration of modern web-usability standards, social sharing and interactivity.
"It is more enjoyable to use, easy to navigate and everything is laid out in a way that makes the site useful even for a new student," says student Abraham Kielar '15.
Kielar was one of several dozen students who were invited to review the site during the redevelopment process and offer feedback to help shape its future. Career Services is thankful to each and every member of the Princeton community that took time to be a part of this exciting project. Our goal, day in and day out, is to be a go-to resource for those pursuing their vision of future success. We look forward to leveraging our new digital platform to help students and alumni throughout each stage of the career-planning process.
Your feedback is very valuable to us, and can help us to continually enhance our offerings. Please take just a few moments to provide comments or report technical problems on the new website.
